It's been a bad month for people searching. After the whole Johnny fiasco, I laid off the person search for my own safety. I mean, if I turned up a weirdo like Johnny, even though I knew him, imagine the weirdos I would turn up if I started contacting people I didn't know? It could be dangerous but I feel up to the challenge and have just logged on for my first official person search of May! Who knows what I will find? That, I think, is the reason I like people search: You never know where you're going to end up. To some this may be really scary and bad but to me it's exciting and adventurous. If it ever gets too bad, I'll just try and lighten to the mood with some humor like this list of saved by the bell episodes that may or may not exist. Hilarious to people like me. I used to watch that show every day after school.
Johnny told me what he wanted. In fact, he called me at 3:23 a.m. today to tell me in explicit detail exactly what he wanted. Wow. When I first wanted to find person's from my past, I had no idea that it could cause trouble like this. I haven't called him back. Do I regret being a people finder? No - in fact, I'm almost tempted to say yes. Is that terrible? I mean, I look so hot, I can't blame him. Johnny called me at 3 a.m. this morning. I freaked out naturally, because when you get a call at that hour, it can only mean a bad thing, an accident, a death, something horribly wrong. Not this time. He was just drunk and he wanted to talk. I felt bad hanging up on him since he was begging, but I was tired, and I really wouldn't have it. I guess sometimes people search can be more trouble than it's worth. Ha. That's an understatement. I still like to people search but I guess it's worth warning you that when you search for people it can sometimes lead to trouble. What do you think Johnny wanted? I have no idea. It was weird. I hope I'll get a chance to call him later this week to ask him about it, hopefully get an apology. By the way, this rant to Garfield minus Garfield is pretty hilarious.
In honor of Valentine's Day I decided to look up my eighth grade sweetheart Jonny. And I found him. We spoke on the phone, and he just seemed so happy and fulfilled--even though our lives took dramatically different turns. He's a floor manager at a casino in Atlantic City. Different strokes, as they say. But even though we're in very different place, he was still very warm and kind over the phone. It made me so grateful for people search for bringing us together. I now know how to handle my godmother's snide question about people search. Moments like those on the phone with Jonny are very meaningful. Now if only finding a doctor were as easy.
My godmother asked me a really strange and philosophical question the other day: do I like to find people because I feel like I'm missing something in my life? I wasn't sure what to make of it. I mean, I'd just called her to tell her about this great new address search, so when she asked that, it made my life feel hollow and empty and sad. Am I really nothing more than an empty vessel that gets momentary satisfaction from fleeting people searches. Instead of building long-lasting friendships, I just constantly hunger for a new search, someone new to track down. I don't know how to answer that question right now. I've been married for decades yet I worry about my commitment. Strange. The only thing that took my mind of it was this hilarious list of the strangest facebook applications.
Well, it's another New Years, and we are just pooped. We had so much family over that we are exhausted from last week. Normally my husband and I got out on New Years and leave the kids home with a babysitter, but this year, we just want to stay home ourselves. I think we're going out to an early dinner, then a movie. We'll probably just come home and drink cocoa and play board games until midnight. That's about all we can handle this year I think. Oh man, we're getting old! Bummer. It's been quiet since yesterday when the last of the family went home. I have had some down time to do a little person search here and there in between cleaning up. Seriously, all I want to do tonight is veg out and people search with the family. We can always go out again next year.... Happy New Year!
Hello again! We're in full-holiday swing now, aren't we. Crazy to think Christmas is just around the corner. I have been thinking of organizing a family reunion and sending all my relatives I've lost touch with a Christmas card with reunion invite. Hello! Just like the title suggests, the family is all well, healthy, and very excited about Halloween. Well, my kids are the most excited about Halloween. We're kinda dreading the month long sugar high that lasts for the month of November. But, we love it too! Our good friend always throws an amazing Halloween party, so we usually get a sitter the Saturday before Halloween and have out fun so we can really focus on theirs'. It's hard to find a person to sit for us around Halloween time, because all our normal sitters are usually busy with their own parties, which we totally understand. Last year we were lucky enough to find person last minute! We almost didn't get to show off our awesome Titanic costumes we rented. Speaking of my friend, she sent me this link to Giant Lists in an email last week. It was so funny. My favorite list was about different phobias, which is so funny you have to check it out. Ok, gotta go brainstorm with the kids about costume ideas.
Oh my gosh! My life has just gotten progressively crazier. Both of my kids got sick at the same time, so my husband and I alternated staying home with them. Then we both got sick. It was a disaster and now I am majorly playing catch-up at work. It's awful. In fact, I am there now. I just needed a break real quick. I can't believe I even remembered to blog. I haven't had a lot of time to people search lately, but I when I need to find a person I take the time to do it. Anyways, I gotta get back on the clock. More updates to come! I promise!
Well, the good news is that work has slowed down a bit. I actually just took a vacation to the Bahamas with my kids! It was so nice to get away for a little while. But, I am back at work right now. I don't have much time because I am nearing the end of my lunch break, but I just want to update, check in, and post some more good sites that I have found lately. Here ya go!
